Join Us July 10–13 at the Trinity County Fairgrounds in Hayfork!
It’s that time of year again—when the sweet scent of kettle corn mixes with mountain air and the Trinity County Fairgrounds come alive with laughter, cheers, and music. From July 10 to 13, 2025, the Trinity County Fair in Hayfork returns with four unforgettable days of small-town fun, family tradition, and community celebration. This year’s theme, “Country Roads, Take Me Home,” captures the spirit of Trinity—inviting friends and families from near and far to reconnect and make lasting memories in a setting that feels like home.
Events & Activities for All Ages
One of the biggest draws of the Trinity County Fair is its celebration of local talent and tradition. The Junior Livestock Auction on Saturday, July 12, is a highlight, showcasing the hard work of 4-H and FFA youth who have raised cattle, pigs, lambs, and more throughout the year. It’s not only a heartwarming experience—it’s also a powerful way to support local agriculture and the next generation of ranchers.
Visitors can expect an eclectic mix of competitions and community events throughout the weekend. You’ll see everything from bicycle and tricycle races for kids to the always-popular belt sander drag races that bring out the creative side of friendly competition. The fair also hosts more rustic contests like logging sports, pinewood derby, cowboy poetry, and the watermelon-eating challenge, offering entertainment that’s as quirky as it is joyful. And don’t forget the pet parade, birdhouse contest, and cribbage tournament, where everyone from toddlers to grandparents can get in on the fun.
Of course, no Trinity County Fair would be complete without the Destruction Derby—an adrenaline-packed fan favorite that fills the grandstands every year. With roaring engines and metal-crunching action, it’s a spectacular display of high-octane excitement that draws big crowds and even bigger cheers. It’s such a standout event, we’ve dedicated an entire blog post to it—so if car carnage is your thing, be sure to check that out too.
Rides, Music & Vendors
No county fair would be complete without a bustling midway, and the Trinity County Fair delivers. Bright lights and laughter fill the air as kids line up for carnival rides, test their aim at game booths, and feast on classic fair food like corn dogs, funnel cake, and hand-squeezed lemonade. Two entertainment stages feature a variety of live music performances throughout the weekend, including local bands and community showcases.
Thursday, July 10, marks Indigenous Peoples Day, a fair tradition that honors local Indigenous cultures with music, dance, and storytelling. It’s a meaningful way to kick off the fair and is open to all visitors at no cost. Throughout the grounds, local artisans and vendors will be offering handmade goods, crafts, and locally sourced products—making it the perfect place to pick up a unique gift or souvenir.
Family-Friendly Focus
The Trinity County Fair is truly a family affair. Its layout, programming, and pace are all designed to welcome guests of every age. Whether it’s a child’s first fair ride, a teen’s first ribbon in a baking contest, or grandparents showing their grandkids the livestock barns, the fair offers countless ways for generations to connect. Admission is affordable, parking is easy, and the welcoming community vibe is impossible to miss.
Parents will love the wide variety of kid-focused activities, while everyone in the family will enjoy the sense of community that’s often lost at larger events. It’s no wonder many families return year after year, treating the fair as a cherished summer tradition.
