More Than a Shopping Trip
Half the fun of Yard Sale Weekend is the journey itself — swapping stories with neighbors, hearing the history behind a hand-me-down treasure, and running into fellow bargain hunters who’ve made the drive from all over Northern California to join in. It’s a weekend that turns the whole county into one long backroad worth exploring, front porch by front porch.
Refuel Along the Way
A weekend of backroad-hopping calls for good food, and you won’t have to go far to find it — stopping in along the way is part of the adventure. Here’s a taste of what you’ll find in each area:
- Hayfork: Grab a locally sourced beef burger at the gas station, or stop into Northern Delights for coffee or barbecue.
- North County: Yellow Jacket Eatery is serving up a locally sourced menu, or grab a wood-fired pizza from Trailhead Pizza.
- Down River: Strawhouse Resorts & Cafe is a perennial favorite. Farther west, the Salyer Store serves up delicious food specials, or stop by The Rockslide Bar and Grill for a meal to go with a beer in the backyard.
- Lewiston: Misha’s Morsels is now open, or swing by the all-time favorite J&J’s Smokin’ BBQ.
- Weaverville: The historic district has plenty of options, but don’t miss the Tangle Blue Saloon for a full menu — including pizza — with plenty of room for your group, Misha’s Morsels, Amei’s Hmong Kitchen, the Trinity Alps Restaurant at the golf course, or step into the past at The Nugget Restaurant, an old-timers’ favorite for refueling.
Make a Weekend of It
Why cram the whole county into one day? With so much ground to cover, plenty of backroad adventurers turn Yard Sale Weekend into a full getaway. Here’s where to rest up along the way:
- Lewiston: Lakeview Terrace Resort, Lewiston Valley Motel & RV Park, or go glamping with alpacas and llamas at One Thing Ranch.
- Douglas City: Settle in at Indian Creek Lodge.
- Hayfork: Bunk down at Timberjack Lodge.
- Weaverville: Choose from the 49er Gold Country Inn, the historic Weaverville Hotel, or the Weaverville Whitmore Inn bed and breakfast.
- Down River: Park it at Del Loma RV Park & Campground, or stay riverside at Strawhouse Resorts & Cafe, with cottages, RV sites, and yurts.
- Northern Trinity: Ripple Creek Resort (Cabins), Pinewood Cove Resort, and Bonanza King Resort all have you covered.
