Plan ahead
We want you to have a safe and enjoyable experience! Make sure you’re aware of the weather, road conditions, and traffic control at the event. See the event map on this page for more details.
- Weather: Check the weather forecast and dress warmly – it’s bound to be a chilly night!
- Road closures:
- Downtown Lewiston will be closed to vehicles from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
- Expect one-way traffic on Lewiston Turnpike to the intersection at Schoolhouse Road. This intersection also serves as a convenient drop-off and pick-up location.
- Parking:
- Obey all road signs. Do not park in restricted areas.
- Watch out for muddy ground or blackberry bushes when choosing a parking spot.
- There is no designated handicapped parking, so plan accordingly.
- No ride-share service. Uber, Lyft, taxis and other ride sharing cars are NOT available in our rural town. Please designate a driver or book a local hotel room
What to bring
- A flashlight to navigate safely after dark. Lewiston has minimal street lighting and it can be hard to find your way around.
- Warm clothing, extra blankets, and accessories like a hat, mittens, or gloves.
- Extra water to stay hydrated.
- Hand warmers for added comfort.
- Cash: Minimal ATMs and limited internet connectivity may mean vendors cannot process card payments. Cash is the best option.
Important safety reminders
- Wildlife: Drive cautiously and watch for animals on the road.
- Pets: Leave your dogs at home or keep them secure in your vehicle, especially during the fireworks display.
- Alcohol: Enjoy responsibly. Do not drink and drive.
Barricades: Everyone (including strollers and wheelchairs) must stay behind the barricades on the old bridge during Santa’s crossing, scheduled for approximately 5:45 PM.
