Trinity County’s much-anticipated Spring Garage Sale Weekend has wrapped up, and what a whirlwind of treasure hunting, laughter, and community spirit it was! In this special blog post, we’re sharing a snapshot of the event through the eyes of our local “ace reporter”, Bradley Everest. There’s something special about waking up early, grabbing a hot coffee, and heading into the unknown world of garage sales. This past weekend, I did just that—and Trinity County did not disappoint.
Weaverville was my first stop, bright and early at 8 a.m., and the sales were already buzzing.
Easter Avenue kicked things off with a solid mix: vehicle floor mats, random computer accessories, and some classic board games. A perfect warm-up.
Then over to Barbara Avenue, where things got more nostalgic—collectibles galore, including antique washing machines, vintage dolls, and Beanie Babies that took me straight back to the ’90s. The homestead-style cookware had a rustic charm, perfect for any cabin kitchen.
At Glen Road, I found everything from kids’ basketball shoes to vinyl records, pocket knives, and knitting materials. It was a cozy corner with plenty for hobbyists.
Manzanita Drive brought more treasures—tons of hats, clothes for everyone, old-school Barbies, and even vintage Apple gear. One person was selling a bicycle that seemed to be waiting for the right owner to ride it home.
On Mill Street, parents with young kids would’ve been thrilled: loads of baby clothes and toddler toys. Over on Bennett Road, things got rugged—woodworking tools, saws, power drills, even backpacking gear. I got tempted by a poker set but resisted… this time.
Finally in Weaverville, Martin Road served up everything from garden tools to a snowboard, used truck tires, and a surprisingly stylish collection of women’s clothing.
Then it was off to my favorite stretch of the day—Douglas City.
Deerlick Springs was pure gold: crates of vinyl records, a mountain of CDs, vintage Happy Meal toys, and Star Wars collectibles that made every ‘80s and ‘90s kid stop in their tracks. I saw antique scales, Hot Wheels, old books, and even a John Deere tractor.
Steiner Flat Road had a fun vibe with wedding-themed items, vintage video games, memorabilia, music, and graphic tees that would make any thrift shop jealous.
By 2:45 p.m., I was finally garage-saled out. I wrapped up the adventure with a well-earned lunch at Up-North Confectionery—their sandwiches hit the spot after a long day of bargain hunting.
What stood out most wasn’t just the crazy variety of goods—it was the energy and joy of the community. Every seller I met was cheerful and genuinely excited to be part of the day.
One seller, in particular, left a lasting impression. His backyard was a shrine to pop culture: DVDs, VHS tapes, trading cards, vintage books, and a ton of collectibles—especially Barbie dolls and Star Wars merch. He was passionate and knowledgeable, and you could tell he was sharing not just stuff, but stories.
I even chatted with a couple who’d driven in from Arcata. They were hunting for antique furniture and came prepared with an empty truck bed. Hopefully by day’s end, it was loaded with vintage treasures!
And my personal haul? Two LEGO sets and a set of basketball cards—all for $14. Not bad for a day’s work!
The Trinity County Garage Sale Weekend is more than just a shopping spree—it’s a celebration of community, nostalgia, and shared stories.
Found something amazing? We want to see it! Head over to the VisitTrinity Facebook page and share photos of your favorite finds. Whether it’s a quirky collectible, a piece of furniture with character, or a rare treasure—you never know who else might appreciate your discovery.
We can’t wait to see what the next Garage Sale Weekend in the fall will bring. Until then, happy hunting!
