An Evening with Jim Reynolds
“An Evening with Jim Reynolds,” a presentation on breaking the speed climbing record on El Capitan, will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Trinity Alps Performing Arts Center, 101 Arbuckle Court, Weaverville.
Free admission, donations accepted. All donations and concession sales benefit Ascend Wilderness Experience, a Trinity County nonprofit offering backpacking trips into the Trinity Alps Wilderness for local youth. There will also be merchandise for sale.
Reynolds is a climber who just broke the speed record on Oct. 21, climbing The Nose of El Capitan in Yosemite National Park with his climbing colleague, Brad Gobright. They completed the climb – that usually takes three to five days for non-speed climbers – in 2 hours, 19 minutes and 44 seconds.
Reynolds will discuss his experience and, as an Ascend alumnus, AWE is thrilled to host him. After Reynolds’ presentation, there will be time for a Q&A.
