United States of America
The 2nd annual Trinity County Art in the Alps: Ceramic & Glass Festival will take place Saturday, June 16, along Main Street in Historic Weaverville. Join in the activities from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The Trinity County Arts Council invites artists, instructors, students, ceramic enthusiasts, and anyone interested in discovering the wonders of the ceramic and glass arts, to join in the activities.
Visitors can expect to see outstanding artists, informative demos, insightful speakers, and exciting exhibitions. The morning begins with coffee and donuts at the Trinity Theatre where Humboldt artists Shannon Sullivan and David Zdrazil will discuss how they produce intricate ceramic and wood sculptures and vessels. Michael Hopko will unveil the process of blowing glass into expressive octopus, fish, and varied creatures. Afterward, join under the big tent at the Highland Art Center meadow to watch Sullivan and Zdrazil demonstrate a variety of complex and unusual ceramic techniques.
Throughout the day, the Highland meadow will come alive with ceramic and glass activities for children and adults. Experience building Sculpey Steam-Punk pendants or sink your hands in clay and try throwing a pot on the wheel or make a clay pinch pot. Get fired-up and glaze a commemorative vessel, then participate in Raku firing. Choose the glass and assist the firing of an enamel pendant. The meadow will be surrounded by some of the North State’s most talented ceramic and glass artists selling their art.
The evening wraps up with an opportunity to meet our esteemed artists during the Artists Receptions at three galleries, from 5 to 7 p.m. Free Admission.
